You really need to come up with a better pseudonym, d4v34x! Do you know how hard it is to type that??? :)

I agree that there is a lot we can and should be doing to teach our children hymnody. I discuss several suggestions here: http://www.religiousaffections.org/articles/worship/train-your-childs-heart-before-his-head

Hi Scott. I was just thinking about this again yesterday as my wife and I taught the 2nd and 3rd graders Sunday School yesterday at our church. The cirriculum tends to be moralistic rather than redemptive. It comes with more crafts and projects and game suggestions and flannelgraph stuff than we could ever fit in the hour. No correllarry sung praise recommendations or anything.
And when the kids do sing it tends to be (or at least want to sing) Poochie Lip, Father Abraham, The Perfect Ten (don't ask), etc.
What if someone were to design a cirriculum based on the truths/Scripture behind the great Hymns. One could easily find 13 lessons based on the stuff of "Immortal, Invisible"; "Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence"; "Arise, My Soul, Arise"; or other Wesley, Watts, Newton, etc. The kids learn the great Hymns and the Truth at the same time.

As a bonus, when they do sit in adult worship on Sunday evening, they are familiar with more than just "Trust and Obey" or the Mac Lynch songs. Eager to get my hands on the pdf. Thanks!
