New Choral Piece: "Psalm 148"

I was recently asked to compose a choir and orchestra piece in honor of Steve Allen’s 25 consecutive years as Music Pastor of First Baptist Church in Troy, MI (my home church). I was honored to be a part of the celebration, and last weekend I had the privilege of conducting the choir and orchestra in the premiere of the piece.

I plan to make the sheet music available at a later date, but I thought I’d let you hear audio of the premiere for now:

  1. This was really neat. Do you compose a lot or just occasionally? Did you write some of the stuff on your CD?

  2. I compose very rarely. I do a decent amount of arranging, especially for groups in my church. Yes, I arranged several of the songs on our CD and fully wrote 2 of them.
