Why do liberal churches have good music and conservative churches don’t?

It never ceases to amaze me how much of what A. W. Tozer says applies as equally to our day as to his. This is a phenomenon that frustrates me today.

  1. Agree wholeheartedly with your assessment of Tozer’s modern-day applicability. And as usual, he said a TON in three sentences.

  4. I think that it is a very interesting phenomenon and Tozer’s assessment is accurate and hilarious to me. Personally, I find some value in all types of music that strives to express faith. However, it does surprise me that the churches that are the most liberal theologically seem to be the most conservative in their music and vice versa. I think it’s because both churches feel like they have something to prove. The liberals want to prove that they’re still part of the Christian tradition and the conservatives want to prove that the Christian alternative to life is just as fun as the secular world. I think Jesus doesn’t care either way.
