Ministry Update | September 5, 2008

Dear Friends,

Thank you all so much for your interest and support of Religious Affections Ministries. Much has happened in the last month, and I’m excited to tell you about it!

New Base of Operations
Monday we packed up a car and a van, and headed for South Carolina with just enough of our belongings to survive! Our house in Rockford has not sold yet, so for now we are living with Becky’s parents. We’re excited, though, to finally be here and to get started full-time with this ministry!

Recent Meetings
After our last Sunday at First Baptist (August 10), we spent a week and a half visiting various churches. Then on Sunday, August 24 I spoke at Morningstar Baptist Church in Rockford, and on August 31 I spoke at Lena Baptist Church in Lena, IL.

Upcoming Meetings
I tried to keep September somewhat free while I get settled in, but I do have a few speaking engagements. I will be speaking at the Wisconsin Fundamental Baptist Fellowship of Churches Conference on September 15-16. I’ll be speaking twice on “Philosophy and Planning of Effective Worship Services.” I also hope to meet a lot of pastors and make contacts for future meetings. I’ll also be speaking at the Michigan Association of Christian Schools Teacher’s convention on September 25-26. I hope to arrange to speak in a church in that area the evening before, Wednesday, September 24, but that hasn’t been filled yet. You can see my full itinerary here.

New Newsletters
I launched two new newsletters in August. InTune is a free, quarterly newsletter for pastors and church musicians. It includes a brief article, CD reviews, sheet music reviews, hymn summaries, tips and tools for music directors, and more.

Shema! is a free, quarterly newsletter for all Christians. It includes a helpful article, CD recommendation, and hymn summary.

Special Needs
We continue to have some special needs as we move into this new stage in our ministry. Thank you to all who regularly ask us to keep you updated with these kinds of needs.

1. Monthly financial support. Right now we are at about 18% of the support we need. I am encouraged by some promises of potential future support! We are so thankful for the churches and individuals who have already pledged support, anywhere from $25 per month to $400. Please let us know if you would be willing to help us with this need, or if you know of a pastor or individual who is burdened with the state of worship and music in churches today.

2. Office equipment. Since I will be working primarily out of a home office, there is some necessarily equipment that I will be looking to purchase soon. The primary purchase I need to make is a small copier/printer.

Continued Financial Support In September
Again, I would like to express deep gratitude for all who have pledged financial support for this ministry. As a reminder, until the Not-for-profit organization is officially up and running, please send your support to First Baptist Church, 5304 Charles St., Rockford, IL 61108. Please be sure to designate your support for “Scott Aniol – Religious Affections Ministries.” First Baptist will facilitate donations until the Not-for-profit is established, and individuals will be able to get full tax benefits from donations. I will let you know how to send support once the Not-for-profit is approved. I have received word from the government that such approval should be within 60 days.

Help Spread the Word
If you know of pastors and churches who would be encouraged by this ministry, please help to spread the word along. I am available to speak in churches any time! As I mentioned before, at this stage I am also earnestly looking for churches and individuals who would be willing to regularly support this ministry. Even individuals willing to give $25 per month would be a great help!

Again, thank you so much for your prayers and support! Please continue to pray, especially as we move into this ministry full time.
