New Book! Tune My Heart: Bible Narratives Devotional Guide for Families or Individuals

I am very pleased to announce the publication of a new book that I have been working on for the past three years—Tune My Heart: Bible Narratives Devotional Guide for Families or Individuals.

Many of you have watched this book develop over these years as I posted the 5 Day Bible Narratives Reading Plan, Religious Affections Catechism, and study notes on this web site, and I have received many messages indicating people are are using the reading plan and notes for themselves and their families.

Now, the reading plan, study notes, reflection questions, catechism, weekly Bible memory, and weekly hymns are all conveniently published in one 359 page volume!

This is perfect for anyone who wants to slow down and focus Bible reading and study on the narratives and poetry of Scripture, but it is especially helpful for children. Our family has been using this plan for a couple years now (including our two older children), and we love it. I brought home this published devotional guide and gave it to Kate (10 years old), and after using it a couple days, she said it was the best thing she’d ever seen. She loved to have the reading plan and all the notes together in one place to help her understand what she is reading.

The book is also perfect for parents who want to lead their children through the reading plan but don’t have time to research for themselves all of the more challenging interpretive issues. The study notes are intentionally designed to give a reader basic interpretive help on each day’s readings. You can view sample pages below:

I have also published a smaller, 123 page “Worship Guide,” which includes everything except the study notes. This smaller book is intended for families to use during family worship, since it includes the Bible memory, catechism, and hymn for each week in a smaller format. Ideally, a parent could own the full study guide and then purchase a worship guide for each member of the family. You could also use this, of course, if you simply wanted the weekly reading plan, memory, catechism, and hymns, but don’t want the study notes.

We are publishing these two books as part of a new “Tune My Heart” series, which will include resources designed for personal and family worship. You can still download the reading plan and catechism for free on the “Tune My Heart” page.

My prayer is that these two books, and more resources in the Tune My Heart series, will be a great blessing to individual Christians and whole families in their devotional walk with the Lord!
